All common factors of a set of numbers will be factors of the greatest common factor, or GCF, of that set. Start by finding the GCF.

\(\text{gcf}(12, 18) = 6\)

Then find the factors of that gcf. One way to do this is to use a factor table. Attempt to divide the number by a series of possible factors, starting with $1$. Place $1$ in the left-hand column, and the quotient in the right-hand column. Increase the number in the left-hand column, skipping numbers that don't divide the greatest common factor, until a number in the left-hand column that is already in the right-hand column appears.
